It is the hardest day of the year to book

The day is genuinely difficult for many people

A countdown is a tool, not an obligation. If the date is one you would rather not be counting toward, that is an entirely reasonable reason not to.
The UK date moves with Easter; most other countries use a fixed rule in May.
